Separate visa approval from airport collection
FCDO guidance for British visitors describes applying for an e-visa before travel and collecting the approved visa at Abidjan airport. Do not confuse collection on arrival with permission to apply after landing. Use the official links for your passport and allow time before buying restrictive tickets.
Agree your arrivals meeting point
The airport lists taxi services and an information desk on the arrivals side. For a prearranged pickup, share your flight number and full accommodation address. Tell the driver if you need to complete visa collection, and agree how you will make contact after immigration and baggage reclaim.
Check the journey beyond Abidjan

Does an Abidjan connection require a visa?
It depends on your passport and transfer arrangement. Confirm whether the itinerary keeps you in the transit area or requires entry to collect bags, change bookings or stay overnight. Check the applicable official rules before accepting the connection.
Can I take boxed gifts in my checked baggage?
Tell us the packed size, weight and contents before choosing a fare. Check the airline's packaging rules and Côte d’Ivoire's customs restrictions. An included baggage allowance does not make every item acceptable for carriage or import.
What should my airport collector know?
Send ABJ, the operating airline, flight number and local arrival date. Agree a clear meeting point and contact method. Keep enough flexibility for immigration, any visa collection and baggage reclaim before planning appointments in the city.
