Make time for Abuja.

Visiting family or heading to meetings in Nigeria's capital? Start with Abuja's own airport and the dates that matter to you. We can compare flights, checked baggage and connections around the complete visit, including a different return city if needed.

Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) is selected; Lagos (LOS) is a different city.

Before you book

Arrange the airport-to-address journey

Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport serves Abuja from outside the central city. Taxis are available outside the terminal, according to British Airways' destination guide. If someone meets you, confirm your actual hotel or family address, luggage space and collection instructions before departing the UK.

Allow for a domestic terminal connection

FAAN describes separate international and domestic terminals at Abuja. An onward Nigerian flight deserves a connection check, particularly on a separate ticket. Ask about baggage collection, terminal access and the domestic check-in deadline; the shortest displayed gap may leave little room for disruption.

Review the whole Nigeria visit

Check Nigeria's entry requirements for each traveller, including children and anyone using different passports on the journey. Read current FCDO advice for Abuja and every state on your itinerary. An international arrival in the capital does not settle the advice for onward road travel.

Questions and answers

Should I choose Abuja or Lagos for this trip?

Use your actual destination to decide. If your plans centre on Abuja, compare ABV options first. A fare to Lagos adds another intercity journey, with its own cost, documents where relevant, and baggage arrangements.

Can my checked baggage continue beyond Abuja?

Ask before booking and check again at departure. Through-checking depends on the ticket and airline arrangements. Keep the bag receipt and verify its destination; a shared booking reference alone is not enough to establish the collection procedure.

What should I share for an Abuja work-trip quote?

Include the meeting date, preferred arrival buffer and whether the return date might move. Tell us about checked cases or equipment so you can compare baggage, change conditions and the total itinerary before committing.
