Choose CAI with your hotel in mind
A stay near Giza, central Cairo or New Cairo creates a different transfer plan. Send your full accommodation address when comparing flights. Confirm the arrival terminal with your airline and agree a meeting point with anyone collecting you; traffic can make a tightly timed first appointment impractical.
Connect onward with the ticket understood
If Cairo is your gateway to another Egyptian city, check whether the flights share one ticket and whether luggage is checked through. A separate booking may require immigration, baggage collection and another check-in. Build those steps into the connection before reserving a cruise or tour departure.
Check the passport and entry route
Egyptian entry requirements depend on nationality and circumstances. Use current official guidance for the passport you will travel on; FCDO entry advice specifically addresses British citizen passports. Include any transit country in that check and review your travel documents before committing to a restricted fare.
Questions and answers
Is Sphinx the same as Cairo International?
No. CAI and SPX are different airports. Check the three-letter code on every flight and transfer booking. If an itinerary uses both, it includes a ground journey between airports.
Can I combine Cairo with a Red Sea stay?
Share both locations and the order you prefer. We can compare available flight combinations, including different arrival and return airports, while you check the ground arrangements between each part of the holiday.
Should I book sightseeing immediately after landing?
Leave room for arrival formalities, traffic and hotel check-in. Give a tour organiser your actual arrival date and airport before paying for a timed visit, especially after an overnight journey.
